Not in recent memory has antisemitism felt more central to our collective discourse than it does today. This course will explore antisemitism — its roots and history and its manifestation in the present: where does it come from, why is it here, and what are the many different ways it presents itself, subtly and otherwise? We’ll also explore how the label is deployed today, exploring the boundaries of what may or may not be antisemitic. Relying on the texts, Anti-Judaism by historian David Nirenberg and People Love Dead Jews by author and scholar Dara Horn, this course will be a blend of readings and discussion.
