Society Hill Synagogue Young Friends (20- and 30-somethings)

The Young Friends of Society Hill Synagogue bring together 20- and 30-somethings — singles and couples — for Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, happy hours, and other gatherings here at the synagogue and throughout Greater Philadelphia. A large number of our congregation’s newer members are in their 20s and 30s, and we’re excited to offer an expanding array of programs for them, with leadership from Young Friends Co-Chairs Louis Polcin, Matt Cohen, and Erika Pleskunas.
The Young Friends of Society Hill Synagogue were voted “Best Young Adult Programming” in the Jewish Exponent’s Best of Jewish Philadelphia 2026!

Young Friends•Giving Back Potluck

A few weeks before Thanksgiving, come together for one of our favorite events: Young Friends•Giving Back! This is a perfect opportunity to come together, share a meal, and give back to the community. Bring your favorite dairy or pareve dish to share!
Last year at Young Friends•Giving Back, participants chose to donate to Philabundance and Magen David Adom, respectively supporting hungry neighbors here in Philadelphia, and Israel’s emergency medical, ambulance, and blood bank service.

Bring your hanukiot (Hanukkah menorahs) and join us at the synagogue for a joyful Hanukkah celebration! We’ll light the candles together, enjoy delicious doughnuts and sufganiyot from Federal Donuts, play dreidel, and fill the evening with holiday cheer. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share in the Hanukkah spirit, celebrate our traditions, and enjoy time with friends and the Society Hill Synagogue community. We look forward to celebrating with you!
